Let’s Talk Facial Layered Skincare

Growing up a facial cleanser and moisturizer was all you needed. My mom started me on Yardley oatmeal soap as a preteen for the pimples. Oil of Olay was her all-time facial moisturizer. Daddy recommended Noxzema. He always said when you see the first sign of a pimple, coat it with Noxzema, get a washcloth as hot as you can stand it, apply over the Noxzema, repeat daily and the pimple will be gone. That really worked! Now all the talk is about serums, moisturizers, and oils. Does it really matter what product is applied first or last? Which ones are best by skin type? What is your skin type further categorized as dry, normal, oily/combination, sensitive, acne prone or mature?

The layered skincare goal is CTP - Cleanse, Treat and Protect the skin. The keys to remember (1) the order of product application for skin absorption, (2) applying products by consistency, lighter first followed by heavier products like creams. Your daytime skincare should include protection from the sun and other elements. The evening skincare is to cleanse the skin from all makeup, elements in the environment and treatment for dry skin, acne or other skin issues. Check out the daytime and nighttime recommended order of product application below. Happy Facial Layered Skincare!
